SHOP CASE KNIVESThe Beaver Falls Barn Door Hinge–Chestnut Folding Knife is a traditional pocketknife rooted in deep American cutlery history and brought back to life with modern materials and careful craftsmanship. The original Beaver Falls Cutlery Company dates back to the 1860s in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, where it earned a reputation as one of America’s earliest and most respected cutlery manufacturers. Today, that legacy lives on through a thoughtful revival by Cooper Cutlery, which acquired the brand’s trademarks and historic machinery to produce knives that honor the past while meeting modern expectations.
This Barn Door Hinge pattern features a compact and practical 3 1/2-inch closed length, making it an excellent choice for everyday pocket carry. The blade is a spear point crafted from D2 stainless steel, offering strong edge retention and dependable cutting performance. Finished in a clean satin, the blade balances traditional aesthetics with modern steel capability. A long pull makes opening smooth and deliberate, while a solid half stop adds control and reinforces the knife’s classic slipjoint feel.
The handle is fitted with chestnut-colored scales that bring warmth and understated character to the design. Polished nickel silver bolsters frame the handle and provide strength at stress points, while matching nickel silver liners and pins complete the traditional construction. Every element feels intentional, from the materials chosen to the proportions in hand, resulting in a knife that’s comfortable to carry and confident to use.
This knife is proudly made in Winchester, Ohio by Cooper Cutlery using the historic Queen, Schatt & Morgan machines. That connection to legacy equipment isn’t just a talking point, it’s reflected in the walk and talk, fit, and overall feel of the knife. Each release is produced in small batches, keeping production numbers low and quality high, with collectors clearly in mind.
The Barn Door Hinge–Chestnut isn’t built to chase trends. It’s built to reflect a time when pocketknives were simple, dependable tools, made with care and meant to last. From its historic roots to its modern execution, this knife delivers authenticity, practicality, and American-made pride in a compact traditional folder.
