SHOP CASE KNIVESThe Buck 301 Stockman with Ebony Wood handles is a dependable, American-made folding knife built with tradition, precision, and premium materials. Designed for those who appreciate heritage tools with refined craftsmanship, this knife is a workhorse in a polished package—ready for daily use or to carry with pride in a collection. At the core of the 301 Stockman is a trio of versatile blades: a clip point for general cutting tasks, a spey blade for skinning or slicing, and a sheepsfoot for clean, controlled cuts. Each blade is crafted from Buck’s proven 420HC stainless steel, treated with Paul Bos’s proprietary heat-treating process to enhance strength, corrosion resistance, and edge retention. The satin finish gives the blades a clean, functional appearance that complements their reliable performance.
The handle is where the 301 steps into a class of its own. Made from genuine Crelicam ebony, the scales are smooth, dense, and naturally dark with subtle grain patterns that make each knife unique. There are no stains, dyes, or synthetic fillers—just the real, sustainably sourced African ebony wood, the result of Buck’s ongoing partnership with Taylor Guitars. The natural finish not only looks distinguished but feels solid in the hand. Nickel silver bolsters frame the handle, lending structure and a traditional aesthetic that ties the piece together. Stainless steel liners and pins ensure the knife is built to last. A strong backspring and classic slip joint mechanism provide solid, non-locking blade action with the snap and resistance you’d expect from a true pocketknife. At just under 4 inches closed and weighing around 2.9 ounces, the Buck 301 carries comfortably and disappears into a pocket until called upon. Proudly made in Post Falls, Idaho, the Buck 301 Stockman is a symbol of American knife-making tradition, built with honest materials, tight tolerances, and attention to detail that shows. Whether you're on the ranch, in the workshop, or adding to a lifelong collection, this knife delivers everyday utility with timeless style. Visit SMKW and check out our large Buck department!
