The Clyde Cutlery Co. Caper Rusty Red Jigged Bone Fixed Blade brings together old-world American cutlery heritage and hand-built craftsmanship in a compact, field-ready hunting knife. Forged and finished entirely in the United States, this knife is made by Gilbert, owner of the Clyde Cutlery trademark and a craftsman within the Cooper Cutlery family. Each blade is individually handmade, continuing the legacy of Clyde Cutlery, a company founded in 1892 in Clyde, Ohio and once known for producing rugged working knives and tools used in industrial and military applications, including Vietnam-era production.
This Caper model is built on a classic Nessmuk-inspired pattern, designed for precision, control, and efficiency in the field. With an overall length of 6.75 inches and a 2.6-inch caper blade, it’s purpose-built for hunters who rely on clean, controlled cuts when caping, skinning, and performing detailed game work. The compact geometry makes it highly maneuverable, while still delivering the strength expected from a fixed blade hunting knife.
The blade is crafted from 1095 carbon steel, a proven material known for its toughness, ease of sharpening, and ability to take a razor edge. It’s a steel that rewards use, developing a natural patina over time that reflects the life of the knife in the field. The plain edge and solid fixed-blade construction ensure dependable performance when it matters most.
The handle is made from striking rusty red jigged bone, giving this knife a bold, traditional appearance with deep texture and a secure grip. These handles are exceptionally limited, with only 25 ever planned for production, and not all have been completed, making each knife a rare collectible in addition to a capable working tool.
Each knife comes paired with a premium leather belt loop sheath handmade by Gordon Leather in Oden, Ohio. Built specifically for this model, the sheath provides secure, reliable carry and reflects the same commitment to American craftsmanship found throughout the knife.
Along the tang where your fingers naturally wrap, the knife is marked with the inscription “May God Bless You 2026” along with the maker’s initials, GLC, adding a personal and meaningful signature from the craftsman himself.
The Clyde Cutlery Co. Caper is more than a hunting knife—it’s a hand-built expression of American cutlery history, designed for real use and destined to be collected.
