SHOP CASE KNIVESThe Condor Matato’a is a fixed blade with roots in both history and utility, paying tribute to the warrior spirit of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island. Designed by Walter A. Matthews, this knife blends cultural reverence with rugged performance, making it a capable tool for the outdoors and a striking addition to any collection. Its 7.1-inch upswept blade is forged from 1095 high-carbon steel, offering excellent edge retention and cutting power. Finished in Condor’s Classic darkened patina, the blade features intricate Rongo Rongo script etching—a visual nod to the ancient written language of the Rapa Nui.
The full tang construction runs into a rich walnut handle, shaped for a confident grip and etched with matching Rongo Rongo script. Red and white liners offer subtle contrast and reinforce the knife’s attention to detail. At 11.82 inches overall and weighing 9.88 ounces, the Matato’a feels substantial in hand, built to withstand tough use while honoring the traditions that inspired it. A hand-crafted brown welted leather sheath with a belt loop rounds out the package, offering secure carry and timeless style.
Whether you're a field user, collector, or student of history, the Matato’a stands apart with both function and story.
