SHOP CASE KNIVESThe Council Tool 2 lb. Wood-Craft Pack Axe with a 19" curved handle is a purpose-built tool crafted for serious outdoorsmen, woodworkers, and bushcrafters. Proudly made in the USA, this axe brings together traditional design and modern engineering to meet the demanding needs of the wilderness. Whether you're carving, splitting kindling, felling small trees, or building shelter, the Wood-Craft Pack Axe is a dependable and versatile tool that performs far beyond its size.
The axe head is drop-forged from 5160 alloy steel, known for its exceptional toughness, wear resistance, and edge retention. Heat treated on both ends, the bit and poll are hardened for strength and reliability, enabling the tool to take on a range of heavy-duty tasks. With a cutting edge of approximately 3.5 inches, this axe is ideal for controlled chopping and precision work, while also delivering enough weight to split and hew when needed. The forged finish is protected with a coat of boiled linseed oil, allowing the natural grain of the steel to show through while guarding against corrosion.
The 19-inch curved handle is made from premium American hickory, carefully selected for grain orientation and density to offer maximum durability and shock absorption. The handle is dried below 10% moisture content before assembly to reduce shrinkage and prevent loosening during use. It’s hydraulically seated in the axe head and secured using a traditional hardwood wedge along with a steel wedge, forming a rock-solid connection that holds strong through repeated impacts.
Included with the axe is a high-quality welted leather mask, designed to protect the edge from the elements and keep users safe when the axe is not in use. The sheath fits snugly and features durable stitching and hardware built to last in the field. Check out our large store and get yours today!
