A spunky knife that tackles big jobs

I love the little Cub Lock-back. It is such a useful fifth pocket knife!
Despite its diminutive size the little gem is capable of handling many common daily chores. The 440 razor sharp blade makes small work when it comes to cutting boxes, fishing line, paracord, etc. It is also great at scoring linoleum tile and drywall.

The forward finger choil gives me a full three finger grip which allows for great blade control. The back lock is also near perfect. I have bought other Cubs in the past and some of them had minor blemishes, but this one is spot on.
If there is anything I would say is wrong with the knife, it would be the very unnecessary half-stop on the blade, Considering the knife is a Lockback, I see no purpose for the so called safety feature of a half stop on the blade.

I’m sure many will also find disfavor in the 30th anniversary blade etch. While it is nicely executed, it does seem like there is a film around the edges giving the look of a printed decal and not a true etch. That combined with the prevailing winds of the day will probably make the etch unpopular with many. I’m not sure of the etch’s durability. Only time will tell.

For me, the true beauty in the knife is the beautiful brown gun stock checkered bone covers. They are expertly crafted and feel fantastic in the hand; offering a very firm yet comfortable grip. This is all the more important on such a small my knife as the Cub!

If you collect these knives, you’re going to want this one. If you have been thinking about getting one but wasn’t sure what you would do with it – then this is a great one to finally give the pattern a test drive.
