The Jantz Supply 12-inch Black G-10 Rod (1/8" Diameter) is a specialized structural pinning material engineered to deliver permanent, high-strength, handle-scale mechanical bonding for custom knife makers and field gear builders. A primary operational limitation when constructing full-tang field tools or repairing heavy-use cutlery is standard metal or wood pins loosening, rusting, or splitting under severe environmental exposure. Jantz Supply resolves this handle assembly bottleneck by utilizing a continuous-woven glass-cloth matrix impregnated with high-performance epoxy resin to create an ultra-durable composite rod.
Favored across the custom cutlery and tactical gear industries for its extreme resilience, G-10 composite material provides complete dimensional stability across extreme temperature and moisture shifts. Unlike natural wood, bone, or standard plastics, glass-epoxy laminates exhibit zero water absorption, preventing moisture from swelling or shrinking pin channels. Once epoxied and ground flush, this material seals handle scales against rain, mud, and corrosive sweat, ensuring long-term field reliability.
Engineered with a high-yield 12-inch profile, this slim 1/8-inch diameter pin stock delivers massive tensile strength and impact resistance to absorb severe shocks from chopping, batoning, or heavy cutting tasks. The micro-textured surface created when cutting or sanding allows standard knifemaking epoxies to bite deeply, creating an unbreakable mechanical bond.
Key Benefits
- Zero Water Absorption: Advanced glass-epoxy matrix resists moisture, rot, and swelling to prevent handle scales from separating in extreme environments.
- Extreme Mechanical Strength: Delivers a tensile strength rating up to 40,000 psi to absorb heavy impact, chopping, and batoning forces without fracturing.
- Enhanced Epoxy Adhesion: A micro-textured surface after cutting or sanding enables adhesives to bite deeply for a permanent structural bond.
- High-Yield 12-Inch Profile: Provides ample material stock to cut multiple custom-length pins for several knife handle builds from a single rod.
