Compact and dependable, the AAPCO 1 Stone Honing Kit is a go‑anywhere sharpening solution built around a high‑quality Hard Arkansas bench stone and premium honing oil. The natural novaculite stone measures 3.5 inches long, 1 5/8 inches wide, and ½ inch thick—just the right size for pocket carry, tool rolls, or glovebox storage. Whether you're in the field or maintaining blades in the shop, this kit is designed to deliver clean, consistent results wherever you take it.
The included Hard Arkansas stone offers a fine grit in the 1200–1500 range, making it denser and smoother than Soft Arkansas, but not as fine as Black Hard Arkansas. It’s perfect for edge refinement, final honing after coarser sharpening, and everyday touch-ups on working blades. Expect surgical edge potential, polished bevels, and precise bite on everything from pocket knives and multi-tools to woodcarving blades and kitchen cutlery.
Each stone is cut from natural novaculite, quarried and finished in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas. The color ranges from white to light gray, often with subtle crystalline translucence. That’s the hallmark of genuine Arkansas novaculite—known for its grit integrity, durability, and time-tested sharpening performance.
To ensure a smooth, clog-free sharpening experience, the kit also includes a 1-ounce bottle of premium honing oil. Just a few drops reduce friction, carry away swarf, and help preserve the life of your stone. Whether you're honing on a workbench or a tree stump, the oil adds control and polish to every stroke.
The stone's compact dimensions make it an excellent choice for travel, field use, or quick edge maintenance before a big job. It's a favorite among hunters, craftsmen, woodworkers, and anyone who takes their cutting tools seriously.
Proudly made in the USA, this honing kit reflects the same rugged, no-nonsense quality that’s long been associated with Arkansas stone. Take care of all your knife maintenance needs at SMKW!
