The Barnes VOR-TX Rifle 8.6 BLK 200gr TAC-TX BT is a 20-round hunting load featuring a 200-grain, 100% copper TAC-TX boat-tail bullet. Developed specifically for the 8.6 BLK cartridge, this load is engineered around the cartridge's short-barrel applications and fast twist rates.
The TAC-TX bullet features an optimized profile designed to support reliable feeding while reducing bearing surface. Its internal cavity is tuned for the 8.6 BLK's 1:3 twist rate, with four copper petals designed to produce controlled expansion upon impact. Barnes lists approximately 1.8X diameter expansion down to 1,400 fps from a 1:3 twist barrel.
The 200gr TAC-TX is designed for use in both 1:3 and 1:6 twist barrels, although expansion characteristics can vary between twist rates. Published muzzle velocity is 2,200 fps from a 16-inch barrel, 2,065 fps from a 12-inch barrel, and 1,815 fps from an 8-inch barrel with a 1:3 twist.
