The 3.08-inch cleaver-style blade is crafted from premium M390 stainless steel and finished in black PVD for a sleek, tactical appearance. M390 is known for its excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and overall durability, making it a strong choice for an EDC blade. The 0.16-inch-thick blade provides a substantial feel while maintaining the compact profile that makes the Nyrrdreki so easy to carry. Its defining feature is the large, round cleaver hole, which helps create the knife's unmistakable dragon-inspired profile.
When Fabian first developed the Nyrrdreki, the blade, handle, and large cleaver hole were designed to resemble the head of a dragon. Viewed together, the components create the appearance of a dragon resting with its wings folded. The classic cleaver hole also pays homage to traditional kitchen cleavers, where openings in the blade have historically been used to help reduce resistance and release pressure during cutting.
But the cleaver hole has another trick up its sleeve. When Fabian received the first prototype and started fidgeting with it, he discovered that the large opening could be used for a smooth pinky flip. It wasn't part of the original plan, but the unexpected discovery quickly became one of the Nyrrdreki's most entertaining and memorable features. Combined with the front flipper, it gives this compact folder plenty of personality and multiple ways to deploy the blade.
The titanium handle features a black PVD finish and striking black and purple side-cut G-10 inlays. The combination creates a dark, aggressive appearance with just enough purple contrast to make the knife stand out. At 7.04 inches overall and 3.96 inches closed, the Nyrrdreki offers impressive capability in a compact package.
