Some knives are designed for display. The Boker DBK Bushfriend 2000 Curly Birch is not one of them. Built for real work in the outdoors and shaped by the hands-on philosophy of Dutch Bushcraft Knives (DBK), this full-tang fixed blade is handcrafted in Solingen, Germany by Boker Germany with one clear purpose: dependable performance when conditions turn unforgiving.
At its core is a 4.33-inch drop point blade forged from 80CrV2 high-carbon steel, a material known for its exceptional toughness, impact resistance, and field-serviceability. This steel is made for hard use scenarios where chopping, batoning, and repeated stress are part of the job. It takes abuse without complaint and sharpens easily when maintenance is needed in the field. The black finish adds a layer of corrosion resistance while giving the blade a subdued, tactical appearance that fits its outdoor intent. The drop point profile keeps the knife versatile, offering strength for heavy tasks while still allowing controlled slicing and precision work when needed.
With a blade thickness of 0.15 inches, the Bushfriend 2000 carries the backbone required for demanding bushcraft tasks. Full-tang construction runs the entire length of the knife, delivering maximum structural integrity and confidence during high-impact use. At 9.06 inches overall and weighing 5.64 ounces, it sits in a well-balanced range that feels solid in hand without becoming cumbersome during extended carry or field work.
The handle is crafted from curly birch wood, bringing a traditional material into a modern outdoor platform. Its natural grain patterns give each knife a unique identity, while the ergonomic shaping ensures a secure, comfortable grip in both dry and wet conditions. The wood’s density and finish provide reliable control, even during prolonged use or repetitive cutting tasks. It’s a handle that blends visual character with functional stability, staying true to the knife’s outdoor roots.
A fitted leather sheath completes the package, offering secure carry with a classic, rugged presentation. It protects the blade while allowing quick access, making it suitable for belt carry during camping, bushcraft, or survival-oriented use.
Developed in collaboration with DBK, this design reflects real-world testing and practical refinement rather than theoretical design work. Every element is built with intent, focusing on durability, balance, and usability in outdoor environments where tools are expected to perform without hesitation.
