The Boker Plus Kihon DC brings the fundamentals of form and function to everyday carry. Designed by American custom knifemaker Lucas Burnley, this streamlined folding knife takes inspiration from Kihon, the Japanese principle of mastering the basics, and translates that philosophy into a rugged, practical EDC built around simplicity, precision, and dependable performance.
The 3.23-inch drop-point blade is crafted from D2 tool steel and finished with a durable black tri-coat for a stealthy, all-black appearance. Measuring 0.13 inches thick, the blade provides a solid balance of strength and cutting performance, while D2 is well known for its excellent edge retention and wear resistance. The versatile drop-point profile makes the Kihon DC suitable for a wide range of everyday cutting chores, from opening packages and slicing cord to handling general utility tasks.
Deployment is smooth and intuitive thanks to the blade's ball-bearing pivot system and ambidextrous, removable thumb studs. Whether you're right- or left-handed, the thumb studs provide a natural point of contact for opening the knife. Once deployed, the crossbar lock offers straightforward operation and a secure lockup, making it easy to use while keeping the design clean and modern.
The handle is constructed from glass-fibre-reinforced nylon and features a textured square pattern that provides a confident, non-slip grip. Its ergonomic shape is comfortable in the hand, while the uniform black finish reinforces the Kihon DC's understated tactical aesthetic. At 7.87 inches overall and weighing just 3.70 ounces, it's large enough to handle serious everyday cutting tasks without becoming cumbersome in your pocket.
For versatile carry, the Kihon DC comes equipped with a convertible tip-up wire pocket clip, allowing you to configure your carry to suit your preferences. A lanyard hole provides another option for securing or customizing the knife. These practical details complement Burnley's minimalist approach, giving the Kihon DC the flexibility you'd expect from a purpose-built EDC.
Made in Asia and designed with an emphasis on the fundamentals, the Boker Plus Kihon DC is a capable everyday folder that doesn't rely on unnecessary features or flashy styling. Its black D2 blade, textured nylon handle, smooth ball-bearing action, and crossbar lock come together in a clean, functional package that's ready for daily use.
