The Busse SYKCO WD5 Trail Point is a purpose-built fixed blade designed to deliver lightweight slicing performance, rugged durability, and all-weather dependability in a compact, field-ready package. Coming from Scrap Yard Knife Co, this model takes the proven War Dog platform and refines it into a nimble trail companion that’s equally at home around camp, in the kitchen, or tackling everyday cutting tasks with ease.
At the heart of the WD5 is a 5.25-inch blade crafted from deep cryo-treated AEBL stainless steel. Known for its excellent stain resistance, fine edge stability, and easy maintenance, AEBL is an ideal choice for a knife meant to see frequent use in wet, humid, or unpredictable environments. The thin ground profile and full flat saber grind give the blade outstanding slicing efficiency, allowing it to glide through rope, food prep, game processing, and general camp chores with minimal resistance. Finished in a stonewashed treatment, the blade also resists glare and helps conceal wear from hard use, keeping it looking and performing like a reliable working tool.
With an overall length of approximately 10 inches and a blade thickness of around .100 inches, the WD5 is built to feel fast, light, and responsive in hand. It’s not overbuilt or bulky—instead, it’s intentionally streamlined for precision cutting and extended comfort during repetitive tasks. The trail point design adds versatility, offering a controlled tip for detail work while maintaining the strength needed for outdoor utility cutting.
The handle is constructed from Resiprene C, a signature Scrap Yard material known for its exceptional durability, weatherproof performance, and shock-absorbing comfort. It provides a secure, slightly tacky grip that performs consistently in wet, dry, hot, or cold conditions without requiring maintenance. The War Dog-inspired ergonomics give the user a natural, locked-in feel that reduces fatigue and enhances control during longer cutting sessions.
This package is completed with a 100% USA-made leather sheath built for strength, longevity, and everyday practicality. Featuring a right-handed triple-riveted belt loop, double stitching, and a beautifully finished edge, it’s constructed from thick 8 oz vegetable-tanned leather with no salts used in the tanning process. The result is a durable, traditional-style sheath that complements the modern performance of the knife while ensuring secure and reliable carry.
The SYKCO WD5 Trail Point is a no-nonsense cutting tool built for users who value simplicity, performance, and toughness in a compact fixed blade that won’t let them down.
