The Clyde Cutlery Co. Caper Elk Stag Fixed Blade is a rugged, hand-built expression of American cutlery heritage, built for hunters who value tradition, scarcity, and real field performance. Made entirely in the United States by Gilbert, owner of the Clyde Cutlery trademark and craftsman within the Cooper Cutlery family, each knife is individually handcrafted and carries forward a legacy that began in 1892 in Clyde, Ohio. Once known for producing dependable working knives and tools used in industrial and military applications—including Vietnam-era production—Clyde Cutlery remains a name tied to durability and honest workmanship.
This Caper pattern is based on the classic Nessmuk-inspired design, a proven hunting profile trusted for generations. With an overall length of 6.75 inches and a 2.6-inch blade, it offers the ideal balance of control and cutting efficiency for caping, skinning, and precision field work. Its compact size and curved blade geometry make it exceptionally capable in close, detailed cutting tasks where accuracy matters most.
The blade is forged from 1095 carbon steel, a time-tested material known for toughness, ease of sharpening, and reliable edge retention. It takes a keen edge quickly and develops a natural patina with use, giving every knife a unique working character over time. The plain edge and fixed blade construction ensure strength, simplicity, and confidence in the field.
The handle is crafted from Vintage Elk Stag, sourced from a highly limited production run of just 15 pieces. Each handle is naturally unique, offering variations in texture, tone, and shape that cannot be duplicated. This is authentic stag with presence and character, giving every knife its own identity while maintaining a firm, comfortable grip.
Each knife is paired with a premium leather belt loop sheath handmade by Gordon Leather in Oden, Ohio. Built specifically for this model, the sheath provides secure carry and reflects the same dedication to American-made craftsmanship found throughout the knife.
Along the tang where your fingers naturally wrap, each blade is marked with the inscription “May God Bless You 2026” along with the maker’s initials, GLC, adding a personal signature from the craftsman himself.
The Clyde Caper Elk Stag is more than a hunting knife—it’s a rare, hand-built American heirloom designed for real use and lasting legacy.
