The Hatamoto were more than soldiers—they were the Shogun’s chosen, trusted protectors who lived and died by honor. Their presence symbolized absolute readiness, discipline, and strength. Cold Steel takes this ancient warrior spirit and reimagines it in modern steel and carbon fiber with the Hatamoto Folding Knife. More than a cutting tool, it is a reminder of what it means to be prepared, a knife forged for those who demand both precision and power in a single blade. To hold it is to hold a piece of history reborn, carried forward with materials and craftsmanship fit for today’s challenges.
At the heart of the Hatamoto is a 4-inch tanto blade crafted from CPM 20CV, one of the most advanced steels available. Known for outstanding edge retention, corrosion resistance, and sheer toughness, this “super steel” ensures the knife is always at its peak when you need it most. Cloaked in a sleek black PVD coating, the blade offers not only a tactical appearance but added durability against wear. The tanto profile gives you a reinforced piercing point while maintaining a long, razor-sharp edge for slicing, making it versatile enough for both everyday carry and heavy-duty applications.
The handle is equally impressive, constructed from forged carbon fiber that delivers a striking modern look while keeping the knife light and exceptionally strong. Its ergonomic design makes the Hatamoto feel like a natural extension of your grip, balancing strength with agility. At 6.7 ounces, it offers enough heft for confidence without weighing you down, and the closed length of 4.5 inches makes it easy to carry discreetly. Quick deployment is achieved through dual thumb studs, giving you smooth, one-handed access to the blade whenever the moment demands it. A reliable liner lock secures the blade firmly in place during use, while the tip-up pocket clip ensures the knife is always within reach, ready for action.
The Cold Steel Hatamoto is built for those who refuse to compromise. It’s for the professional who requires reliability under pressure, the collector who values a blade inspired by history yet forged with cutting-edge technology, and the enthusiast who understands that preparedness is power. Whether you’re navigating the city, working in demanding environments, or venturing into the wilderness, this folding knife delivers unwavering performance and the confidence of carrying a modern warrior’s blade.
