SHOP CASE KNIVESThe Dragon King Pine Crane Katana is a masterful blend of artistry, precision, and balance, designed for collectors and martial artists who appreciate both beauty and functionality in a traditional blade. Its 27.75-inch forged T10 steel blade is long yet remarkably light, offering exceptional maneuverability while maintaining the commanding presence of a full-sized katana. The blade features a prominent hamon that runs along the edge, contrasting beautifully with the mirror-polished ji and mune, and a sharp 1 ½-inch kissaki that slices with precision reminiscent of a crane’s bill. Every inch of this blade speaks to craftsmanship, delivering a combination of elegance, strength, and cutting performance.
The tsuka, measuring 12 inches, is wrapped in black cotton ito over white same (rayskin), providing a secure grip and traditional aesthetic. Silver crane menuki rest beneath the wrap, complementing the bronzed steel fittings on the tsuba, fuchi, and kashira. These fittings are finely embossed with the Pine Crane motif in rich earth tones, capturing the flowing beauty of nature while emphasizing the katana’s elegant design. The attention to detail in the fittings echoes the life and movement of the crane, giving the sword a sense of dynamic artistry even when at rest.
The saya is textured brown, offering a rugged contrast to the blade’s mirror finish. Its first 8 ¼ inches feature black and matte stripes accented with charcoal and copper, harmonizing with the buffalo horn kojiri and korikata and the sageo cord for a cohesive, visually striking presentation. At 41.25 inches overall and weighing just over 2 pounds, 6 ounces, the Dragon King Pine Crane Katana balances size and portability, making it as functional as it is beautiful. A wood scabbard is included for safe storage and transport, preserving the integrity of the blade and fittings.
This katana combines traditional craftsmanship, artistic detail, and practical balance to deliver a weapon that is both collectible and functional. Every element—from the finely detailed bronzed fittings to the polished T10 blade and textured saya—reflects dedication to quality and the timeless elegance of Japanese sword-making.
