The Gahagan Customs Wolfhound is a lightweight, purpose-built skinning knife designed for hunters who need dependable performance and precise control in the field. Its dedicated skinning profile features a pronounced curved belly that’s ideal for field dressing wild game, while the narrow tip helps make controlled, precise cuts when working around detailed areas. Though designed with hunting in mind, the Wolfhound’s versatile blade makes it equally useful for a variety of outdoor tasks.
The 4.375-inch blade is crafted from 80CRV2 steel and measures .125 inches thick. This tough carbon steel is well suited to demanding outdoor use, providing a durable cutting platform with dependable edge performance. The curved belly gives the blade an efficient skinning profile, allowing smooth cuts while the narrow tip provides the control needed for more precise work. From processing game to handling general camp chores, the Wolfhound offers a practical balance of cutting ability and maneuverability.
The textured G-10 handle gives you a secure grip while keeping the knife lightweight and easy to carry. This version features a rugged camo G-10 handle accented with a contrasting orange liner, creating an unmistakable outdoor look with a bright touch of color. At only 5.54 ounces, the Wolfhound won’t add unnecessary weight to your hunting or outdoor gear. Its 8.375-inch overall length provides a comfortable balance between useful cutting surface and compact field carry.
A black retention sheath is included to protect the blade and keep the knife secure when it’s not in use. Made in the USA and designed by Kyle Gahagan, the Wolfhound represents the practical craftsmanship and field-minded design philosophy of Gahagan Customs.
Kyle Gahagan’s passion for knifemaking began at the age of 10 while visiting his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina. After joining the Army at 20, he served with the 1st Ranger Battalion and completed two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq. Following his military service, Kyle and his wife, Dana, moved to North Carolina, where he returned to knifemaking and transformed a garage hobby into a skilled, family-sustaining craft.
Kyle has spent years researching, practicing, and refining his craft while working with accomplished bladesmiths. His designs are made with the end user in mind, combining practical functionality with rugged construction. An avid outdoorsman himself, Kyle understands what hunters and outdoor enthusiasts need from a dependable knife. He earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016.
