The Gahagan Customs Wolfhound is a purpose-built skinning knife designed for hunters and outdoorsmen who demand precise performance without unnecessary weight. Made in the USA by Kyle Gahagan, this compact fixed blade combines a practical field design with rugged materials and the craftsmanship that has become a hallmark of Gahagan Customs.
At the heart of the Wolfhound is a 4 3/8-inch 80CRV2 steel blade measuring 1/8-inch thick. Its pronounced curved belly is ideally suited for skinning and field dressing wild game, allowing the edge to maintain consistent contact during long, controlled cuts. A narrow tip adds precision when working around joints, hide, and other areas where careful cuts are essential. 80CRV2 is known for its toughness and ability to take and hold a keen edge, making it a dependable choice for demanding outdoor work. Whether you're processing game in the field or tackling general camp chores, the Wolfhound offers plenty of cutting capability in a compact package.
The textured blue-black G10 handle provides a secure, comfortable grip while keeping the knife lightweight. G10 is well suited to hard outdoor use, offering excellent durability and resistance to moisture and changing conditions. At 8 3/8 inches overall and weighing just 5.54 ounces, the Wolfhound is easy to carry without sacrificing the control needed for detailed cutting work.
A black retention sheath is included for secure carry and quick access in the field. The compact profile makes the Wolfhound an excellent companion for hunting trips, camping, hiking, and other outdoor adventures where a dedicated fixed blade is an advantage.
The Wolfhound reflects Kyle Gahagan's experience as a bladesmith and outdoorsman. His interest in knifemaking began as a child during visits to his grandparents in South Carolina and eventually grew from a garage hobby into a full-time craft. After serving with the 1st Ranger Battalion and completing multiple tours overseas, Kyle returned to knifemaking with a renewed focus on creating dependable tools for real-world use. He earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has also been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications.
Built around practical performance, durable materials, and a hunter-focused design, the Gahagan Customs Wolfhound is a lightweight skinning knife that's ready to earn its place in the field.
