The Gahagan Customs Wood Duck Bird and Trout Knife is a compact, lightweight fixed blade designed for hunters, anglers, outdoorsmen, and anyone who appreciates a purpose-built knife that’s easy to carry. Its 2.875-inch blade is ideally sized for processing birds, fish, and small game, while its slim profile makes it equally useful as an everyday companion. Whether you’re working around camp, preparing a catch, or handling everyday cutting tasks, the Wood Duck delivers practical performance without unnecessary bulk.
The blade is crafted from AEB-L stainless steel and features a tumbled finish that gives it a rugged, understated appearance. At .110 inches thick, the blade maintains a slim cutting profile while providing the strength and control needed for detailed outdoor work. AEB-L is well suited to an outdoor knife thanks to its stainless construction and dependable cutting performance, helping the Wood Duck stand up to environments where moisture and exposure are part of the job.
The handle features feathered black G-10, adding texture and visual character while providing a secure grip. The feathered pattern gives each knife its own distinctive appearance, making this Wood Duck as attractive as it is functional. Weighing only 3.23 ounces and measuring 7.25 inches overall, it’s light enough to carry comfortably without feeling like an afterthought in your field gear. A black retention sheath keeps the knife protected and ready for convenient carry when you need it.
Made in the USA and designed by Kyle Gahagan, the Wood Duck reflects the practical, user-focused philosophy behind Gahagan Customs. Kyle’s interest in knifemaking began at age 10 during visits to his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina, where he started tinkering with objects and shaping them into useful tools. After serving with the 1st Ranger Battalion and completing two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq, Kyle returned to his passion for knifemaking. What began as a garage hobby eventually developed into a skilled craft and family-sustaining business.
Kyle earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has also been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications. As an avid outdoorsman, Kyle understands the importance of building knives around the needs of the person using them. That philosophy comes through in the Wood Duck’s compact dimensions, useful blade profile, lightweight construction, and straightforward field-ready design.
