The Gahagan Customs Wood Duck Bird and Trout Knife is a compact fixed blade designed for hunters, anglers, outdoorsmen, and anyone who values a lightweight knife with practical field capability. Its 2.875-inch blade is ideally sized for processing birds, fish, and small game, providing the control needed for detailed cutting tasks without adding unnecessary bulk. With its slim profile and versatile design, the Wood Duck can also transition easily into an everyday carry role.
The blade is crafted from AEB-L stainless steel and measures .110 inches thick. Its stainless construction provides dependable corrosion resistance, making it a practical choice for outdoor environments where moisture, water, and exposure are common. The compact blade offers excellent control for precise work while remaining useful for a variety of general cutting tasks around camp, on the water, or in the field.
This version features feathered blue G-10 scales accented by a contrasting orange liner. The textured G-10 provides a secure grip while the feathered pattern adds distinctive character to the handle. The bright orange liner creates an eye-catching contrast against the blue scales, giving this Wood Duck a unique look without sacrificing its rugged, functional character. Measuring 7.25 inches overall and weighing only 3.23 ounces, it’s light enough to carry comfortably throughout the day. A black retention sheath is included to protect the blade and provide convenient carry in the field.
Made in the USA and designed by Kyle Gahagan, the Wood Duck reflects the practical, user-focused philosophy that defines Gahagan Customs. Kyle’s passion for knifemaking began at age 10 during visits to his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina, where he began experimenting with objects and shaping them into useful tools. After serving with the 1st Ranger Battalion, including two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq, Kyle returned to his passion for knifemaking and developed his garage hobby into a professional craft.
Kyle earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications. As an avid outdoorsman, Kyle understands the importance of creating knives around the needs of the person using them. His attention to practical design and quality craftsmanship comes through in the Wood Duck’s compact dimensions, lightweight construction, and useful blade profile.
