The Gahagan Customs Wood Duck Bird and Trout Knife is a compact fixed blade built for hunters, anglers, outdoorsmen, and anyone who wants a capable knife without unnecessary bulk. Its 2.875-inch blade is well suited for processing birds, fish, and small game, giving you the control needed for detailed cutting tasks in the field. The slim, lightweight design also makes the Wood Duck a versatile everyday companion when you need a dependable fixed blade close at hand.
The Wood Duck uses AEB-L stainless steel for its .110-inch-thick blade. This stainless steel construction offers dependable corrosion resistance, making it particularly well suited for outdoor environments where exposure to moisture is unavoidable. The compact blade profile provides excellent control for detailed work while maintaining enough versatility for general outdoor and everyday cutting tasks. At just 3.23 ounces, the Wood Duck won’t weigh down your gear, yet its fixed-blade construction gives it the straightforward functionality many outdoorsmen prefer.
This version features feathered camo G-10 scales with a contrasting orange liner. The textured G-10 provides a secure grip and gives the knife a rugged appearance, while the feathered pattern adds distinctive character to each handle. The orange liner creates a bold contrast beneath the camo scales, making the knife easy to distinguish among your other gear. Measuring 7.25 inches overall, the Wood Duck remains compact enough for comfortable carry without sacrificing useful handle space. A black retention sheath is included to protect the blade and provide convenient carry in the field.
Made in the USA and designed by Kyle Gahagan, the Wood Duck reflects the practical, user-focused philosophy behind Gahagan Customs. Kyle’s interest in knifemaking started at age 10 during visits to his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina, where he began shaping everyday objects into useful tools. After serving with the 1st Ranger Battalion, including two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq, Kyle returned to his passion for knifemaking and transformed his garage hobby into a professional craft.
Kyle earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications. As an avid outdoorsman, Kyle understands the value of a knife designed around real-world use. His experience, craftsmanship, and attention to the end user are evident in the Wood Duck’s compact proportions and practical design.
