The Gahagan Customs Wood Duck Bird and Trout Knife is a compact fixed blade designed for hunters, anglers, outdoorsmen, and anyone looking for a lightweight knife with practical field performance. Its 2.875-inch blade is ideally sized for processing birds, fish, and small game, while the slim profile makes it easy to carry and comfortable to handle. From cleaning a catch at camp to tackling everyday cutting chores, the Wood Duck offers the versatility to go wherever your day takes you.
The blade is crafted from AEB-L stainless steel and measures .110 inches thick, providing a slim cutting profile that’s well suited for detailed work. Its stainless construction offers dependable corrosion resistance, making it a practical choice for outdoor environments where moisture and exposure are common. The compact blade length gives you excellent control for precise cuts without adding unnecessary weight or bulk to your gear.
This version features feathered OD green G-10 scales accented by an orange liner. The textured feathered G-10 provides a secure grip while giving the knife a rugged, distinctive appearance. The orange liner adds a bright contrast beneath the handle scales, giving this Wood Duck a look that stands out in the field. At only 3.23 ounces and 7.25 inches overall, it’s light enough for comfortable everyday carry while still offering the solid handling of a fixed blade. A black retention sheath protects the knife and provides a convenient way to carry it in the field.
Made in the USA and designed by Kyle Gahagan, the Wood Duck represents the practical approach behind Gahagan Customs. Kyle’s passion for knifemaking began at age 10 while visiting his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina. After years of developing his skills, studying under experienced knifemakers, and working with respected bladesmiths, he turned his garage hobby into a professional craft. His experience serving with the 1st Ranger Battalion, including two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq, also helped shape his appreciation for dependable tools designed with the end user in mind.
Kyle earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications. As an avid outdoorsman, Kyle builds his knives around real-world needs, combining practical designs with quality materials and careful craftsmanship. The Wood Duck carries that philosophy in a compact package that’s ready for the field, the water, or everyday carry.
