The Gahagan Customs Wood Duck Bird and Trout Knife is a compact fixed blade designed for hunters, anglers, outdoorsmen, and anyone who wants a lightweight knife that’s ready for practical field use. Its 2.875-inch blade is well suited for processing birds, fish, and small game, offering the control needed for detailed cutting tasks without adding unnecessary bulk. Slim, lightweight, and versatile, the Wood Duck can also serve as a dependable everyday carry companion.
The blade is crafted from AEB-L stainless steel and measures .110 inches thick. Its stainless construction provides dependable corrosion resistance, making it especially well suited for outdoor environments where exposure to water and moisture is common. The compact blade profile gives you excellent control for precise work while remaining versatile enough for general cutting tasks around camp, on the water, or in the field.
This version features feathered tan G-10 scales accented by a contrasting orange liner. The textured G-10 provides a secure grip while the feathered pattern gives the handle a distinctive, rugged appearance. The orange liner adds a bold contrast beneath the tan scales, giving this Wood Duck a unique look that stands out in your gear. Measuring 7.25 inches overall and weighing only 3.23 ounces, it’s easy to carry throughout the day without weighing you down. A black retention sheath is included to protect the blade and provide convenient carry in the field.
Made in the USA and designed by Kyle Gahagan, the Wood Duck reflects the practical, user-focused philosophy behind Gahagan Customs. Kyle’s passion for knifemaking began at age 10 during visits to his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina, where he started experimenting with objects and shaping them into useful tools. After serving with the 1st Ranger Battalion, including two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq, Kyle returned to his passion for knifemaking and developed his garage hobby into a professional craft.
Kyle earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications. As an avid outdoorsman, Kyle understands the importance of building knives around the needs of the person using them. That philosophy is evident in the Wood Duck’s compact dimensions, lightweight construction, corrosion-resistant blade, and practical field-focused design.
