The Gahagan Customs Young Buck EDC Skinning Knife is a compact, all-around fixed blade designed to handle the practical demands of everyday carry, hunting, and the outdoors. Built primarily as a small skinning knife, the Young Buck features a utilitarian design that makes it useful well beyond the field. Its compact dimensions and comfortable grip make it an easy choice for camping trips, hunting excursions, outdoor chores, and everyday cutting tasks.
The 3.375-inch blade is crafted from 80CRV2 steel and measures .125 inches thick, giving the Young Buck a strong yet manageable cutting profile. 80CRV2 is well suited to a rugged working knife, while the compact blade length provides control for detailed cutting tasks. The overall design keeps the knife practical and straightforward, with enough versatility to transition easily between field work and everyday use.
The textured OD green G-10 handle gives the Young Buck a rugged outdoor appearance and a secure gripping surface. Orange liners add a contrasting accent beneath the scales, giving this utilitarian knife a distinctive touch without taking away from its purpose-driven design. The handle is sized to complement the compact blade, creating a balanced package that feels natural in hand. At 4.35 ounces, the Young Buck offers a solid feel without becoming excessively heavy for an everyday carry knife.
With an overall length of 7.625 inches, the Young Buck is compact enough to carry comfortably while still providing useful cutting capability. Its straightforward fixed-blade construction makes it a dependable choice when you need a knife that’s ready to work. Whether you’re processing game, handling camp chores, preparing gear, or taking care of everyday cutting tasks, the Young Buck is designed to be a versatile tool you’ll want close at hand.
The Young Buck represents the craftsmanship of Kyle Gahagan, whose passion for knifemaking began at age 10 while visiting his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina. After years of tinkering with tools and studying accomplished knifemakers, Kyle served with the 1st Ranger Battalion, completing two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq. Following his military service, Kyle and his wife, Dana, settled in North Carolina, where he renewed his focus on knifemaking in the early 2000s.
What began as a garage hobby eventually developed into Gahagan Customs. Kyle has spent years researching and refining his craft, working with respected bladesmiths while developing his own style. His knives are created with the end user in mind, whether he’s producing unique designs or rugged work pieces. Kyle earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has also been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications.
