The Gahagan Customs Young Buck EDC Skinning Knife is a compact fixed blade designed to cover a wide range of everyday and outdoor cutting needs. Created primarily as a small EDC skinning knife, the Young Buck has a practical, utilitarian design that makes it equally useful around camp, in the field, or as part of your daily gear. Its compact profile and capable construction make it a dependable knife to keep close when you need a straightforward cutting tool.
The 3.375-inch blade is crafted from 80CRV2 steel and measures .125 inches thick, giving the Young Buck a rugged foundation for everyday use. Its compact blade length provides good control for detailed cutting and skinning tasks, while the fixed-blade construction keeps the design simple and ready to work. Measuring 7.625 inches overall, the Young Buck offers a useful balance between cutting capability and convenient carry.
A textured blue G-10 handle gives this version a distinctive look while providing a secure gripping surface. Orange liners add a bold contrasting accent beneath the handle scales, creating an eye-catching combination that sets this Young Buck apart from more traditional outdoor knives. The textured G-10 provides a confident feel in hand, complementing the compact blade and practical proportions.
Weighing 4.35 ounces, the Young Buck has enough substance to feel capable without becoming unnecessarily cumbersome. Its design is especially well suited to hunting and skinning, but its usefulness doesn't stop there. Take it along on a camping trip for camp chores, keep it with your outdoor gear, or carry it as an everyday fixed blade for general cutting tasks. It's a versatile knife built around the idea that one dependable tool should be ready for whatever the day brings.
The Young Buck reflects the craftsmanship of Kyle Gahagan, whose passion for knifemaking began at age 10 while visiting his grandparents in Walterboro, South Carolina. After years of tinkering with objects and studying accomplished knifemakers, Kyle served with the 1st Ranger Battalion, completing two tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq. Following his military service, Kyle and his wife, Dana, settled in North Carolina, where he renewed his passion for knifemaking in the early 2000s.
What began as a garage hobby eventually became Gahagan Customs. Kyle has spent years researching and refining his craft, working with respected bladesmiths while developing his own distinctive style. His knives are made with the end user in mind, from unique designs that challenge his skills to rugged work pieces built for demanding use. Kyle earned his ABS Journeyman Smith rating at the 2015 Blade Show in Atlanta and appeared on Forged in Fire in 2016. His work has also been featured in Blade Magazine, Knife Magazine, and other publications.
