The GiantMouse “The Redington” Fixed Blade is a purpose-built survival tool born from real-world experience and shaped by some of the most demanding environments on earth. Designed with direct input from SERE instructors in the remote wilderness of Maine, this knife reflects a no-nonsense philosophy where performance matters more than appearance, and failure simply isn’t an option. The inspiration behind the Redington comes from a place known simply as Redington—a remote, rugged training ground used by U.S. Military Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape instructors. It’s a landscape defined by isolation and unpredictability, where the environment becomes the primary challenge. That same mindset shaped every decision in this design. The result is a fixed blade that focuses entirely on control, durability, and function under stress.

At its core is a 5.1-inch CPM MagnaCut blade, heat-treated to approximately 62 HRC. MagnaCut was chosen for its exceptional balance of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance—three traits critical for survival use in wet, cold, and unpredictable environments. The stonewashed finish reduces glare and helps conceal wear, ensuring the blade maintains a clean working profile even after heavy use in the field.

The handle is constructed from milled double black canvas Micarta, chosen for its dependable grip and long-term durability. The aggressive milling pattern enhances traction in wet, muddy, or gloved conditions, giving the user a secure hold when precision and control matter most. Over time, the Micarta develops character without sacrificing performance, making it a material that only improves with use.

A full-tang construction ensures strength throughout the entire tool, while the balanced proportions provide confidence during chopping, carving, or general camp tasks.
