Built for demanding emergency work, the Hoffman Blacksmithing Fireman’s Hatchet combines rugged construction, purposeful engineering, and meticulous American craftsmanship in a hard-working tool designed for firefighters, rescue personnel, and emergency response professionals. With its hardened spike and substantial forged head, this specialized hatchet is made to tackle challenging situations involving vehicle panels, sheet metal, and other tough construction materials.
The 2.5-pound head is hand-forged from 4142 chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, delivering the strength and durability required for serious professional use. Its cutting edge handles chopping tasks, while the hardened spike is designed to penetrate demanding materials with minimal wear. A 5/16” roll pin secures the head through the side as an additional safeguard, reinforcing the dependable construction expected from a tool intended for critical work.
Choose a 19” or 24” premium hickory handle to suit your preferred reach and handling requirements. Both lengths are available in oval or octagonal configurations, with the octagonal profile recommended for applications where the hatchet is primarily used with gloves. You can also select a standard or bulb handle end to personalize the finish and feel. Optional phantom bevels along the top and bottom of the blade are designed to improve penetration and make removing the tool from sheet metal and other construction materials easier. An optional leather strike guard adds protection to the handle against overstrikes.
A custom leather sheath is included to protect the cutting edge during storage and transport. Handcrafted in the USA, the Fireman’s Hatchet reflects Hoffman Blacksmithing’s commitment to functional design, careful fit and finish, and tools built for demanding service.
