Hornady Outfitter .300 Remington Ultra Magnum 180 Grain CX ammunition is a factory-loaded rifle cartridge designed for demanding hunting conditions. This 20-round load combines Hornady’s CX copper-alloy expanding bullet with nickel-plated cases and sealed components intended to provide protection against moisture and corrosion.
The 180-grain CX bullet is constructed from a copper alloy and is designed around controlled expansion and deep penetration. Hornady states that the CX design provides uniform expansion while retaining more than 95% of its original bullet weight. The bullet has a listed sectional density of .271 and a ballistic coefficient of .469 (G1). Its construction also provides an option for jurisdictions and hunting areas where nontraditional bullet materials are required.
Outfitter ammunition uses nickel-plated cartridge cases designed to resist corrosion and provide additional protection in wet or demanding environments. Hornady also seals the primer and case mouth to help create a watertight cartridge. Together, these features are intended to help protect the ammunition from moisture during storage and field use.

At 400 yards, velocity is listed at 2,410 feet per second with 2,321 foot-pounds of energy and a trajectory of -5.7 inches. At 500 yards, the listed velocity is 2,233 feet per second with 1,992 foot-pounds of energy and a trajectory of -33.4 inches.
Hornady designates this Outfitter load for medium game weighing approximately 50–300 pounds and large game weighing approximately 300–1,500 pounds. The ammunition is supplied in a 20-round box under item number 82084.
