Excellent urban utility tool
As a high quality blade that intrinsically protects its cutting edge, you won’t find anything better at any price point, unless you shell out to have a custom build. Now, there are some myths surrounding OTFs that you need to understand when you buy any of them, this model included. Firstly, automatics are not the fastest deployable knives available. Any good fixed blade and sheath combo with under a six inch blade can be faster. The advantage lies in the ability to keep the knife in hand and shift between a deployed and a safe blade position by the mere flip of a switch. Sort of a high end utility knife. Second, a typical OTF, as this is, will not deploy with sufficient force to clear debris that has become jammed in the handle. This is a safety feature designed into almost every commercially available OTF to prevent the operator from accidentally deploying the blade into themselves. The knife handle of every OTF is a reservoir for debris and therefore lend themselves to a more pristine environment. They do not fair well in swamps, jungles, rainforests, wet frozen environments, or salt. They are excellent for Urban, Suburban, and Industrial environments when they are legal. They are especially suited to confined spaces and tasks where you must only operate your knife with one hand. The design is perfectly ambidextrous to the smallest meaningful detail. The blade steel is of the highest quality. As is every component of this tool. I live in an area where automatic knives are legal and widely accepted, and I have seen them in use in industrial settings as well as edc for both civilians and first responders. The edge retention of the blade is a real selling point. It is also nice that the blade is very securely shrouded in the handle when retracted and it requires an intentional initiation of the switch to deploy. This feature makes accidental blade deployment an extremely improbable occurrence. Overall I absolutely love this knife and will probably purchase it again. It would make a great gift for an EMT or Police Officer.
