Condor Tool & Knife
Published: August 19th, 2024
Condor Tool & Knife, a name synonymous with quality and durability in the world of outdoor tools, traces its roots back to 1787. This venerable company began as the Gebruder Weyersberg Company in Solingen, Germany, a city renowned for its blade-making craftsmanship. The founders, the Weyersberg brothers, quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality swords, military knives, and agricultural tools, laying the foundation for what would eventually become Condor Tool & Knife.
In 1964, the company made a strategic decision to expand its operations beyond Europe. Recognizing the burgeoning demand for high-quality blades in Central and South America, the company established a new manufacturing facility in Santa Ana, El Salvador. This move allowed Gebruder to tap into the skilled labor market of the region while also being closer to key markets in the Americas. The El Salvador facility, IMACASA, became the new hub of production, maintaining the high standards set by the original Solingen factory. Today IMACASA is the largest manufacturer of machetes in the world.
