The Knight Forge Studio Brut de Forge Bowie with Fuller is a striking fixed blade that combines traditional Bowie styling with the rugged character and craftsmanship of Jason Knight. Built with an impressive 18.5-inch overall length and a substantial 12.75-inch blade, this knife makes a commanding statement for collectors who appreciate distinctive custom blades and traditional American knife designs. Featuring 80CrV2 carbon steel and curly maple handle scales, it brings together durable materials, natural wood grain, and a bold forged aesthetic.
The 80CrV2 steel blade features a fuller that adds definition to the blade's profile and enhances its traditional Bowie appearance. The long blade creates an imposing silhouette, while the fuller provides a distinctive visual detail that complements the knife's overall design. Known for its toughness and suitability for demanding cutting applications, 80CrV2 carbon steel is a popular choice for hard-use blades. As with other carbon steels, it requires regular care to help prevent corrosion. Cleaning and thoroughly drying the blade after handling, along with applying a light coat of protective oil when needed, will help preserve its condition over time.
Curly maple scales bring warmth and natural character to the knife's rugged design. The wood's distinctive figuring creates depth and visual interest, giving the handle an appealing contrast to the blade's forged appearance. With its traditional materials and substantial proportions, the Brut de Forge Bowie balances rustic appeal with the refined details expected from a skilled bladesmith. The curly maple scales also give this knife a distinctive look that stands out in a collection of traditional Bowies and handcrafted fixed blades.
A zippered black pouch is included for convenient storage and transport, providing a practical way to keep the knife protected when it's not being displayed or used.
The knife reflects the lifelong dedication of Jason Knight, whose passion for blades began during his childhood in the hinterlands of Charleston, South Carolina. Inspired by adventure stories his father read to him, costumes his mother made, and backyard explorations with old knives and machetes, Knight developed an early fascination with the craft. In 2001, he attended the Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing in Old Washington, Arkansas, where he trained under Master Bladesmith Jay Hendrickson. In 2007, Knight earned his American Bladesmith Society Mastersmith rating and received the B.R. Hughes Award for the best knife by a Mastersmith candidate. His decades of experience and recognizable style have helped establish his reputation in the knifemaking community.
With its fullered 80CrV2 blade, curly maple scales, and impressive Bowie profile, the Knight Forge Studio Brut de Forge Bowie showcases the craftsmanship and traditional character that make Jason Knight's work distinctive.
