Built for hunters who need precision in the field without sacrificing versatility, the Morakniv Hunting Amberg Full Flat (S) Fixed Blade is a purpose-driven tool designed for skinning, field dressing, and processing game, while still handling camp cooking and light carving when the work shifts away from the harvest. Made in Mora, Sweden with 135 years of knife-making heritage behind it, this model blends Scandinavian control with modern hunting practicality.
At the core is a 4.25-inch blade crafted from Swedish stainless steel 14C28N, produced by Alleima. Heat-treated, cryogenically processed, and hardened to 58 HRC, the steel delivers a strong balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and field durability. The full flat grind with a secondary bevel and a shallow 4–6° grind angle is designed to reduce friction and create clean, controlled cuts through hide and tissue. That same geometry also makes it highly effective in camp kitchen use, where smooth slicing and low resistance matter.
This blade is purpose-built for hunting tasks. During skinning and field dressing, the flat grind allows for precise control and clean separation, reducing drag and improving efficiency. The polished spine is not ferro rod compatible, but it contributes to easier cleaning and a more hygienic surface when working with game. Beyond hunting duties, it transitions easily into outdoor cooking and light carving, giving it real value as a multi-role field knife.
At 9.57 inches overall and weighing 5.68 oz, it carries with a balanced feel that stays comfortable during repeated use. The 3.2 mm blade thickness adds strength without unnecessary bulk, making it dependable for both fine control work and general outdoor tasks.
The handle is built from durable TPE over a rigid core and finished in a functional Hunting colorway. Its flatter profile and narrowed front section allow for precise grip adjustments, including pinch grip control for detailed cutting. Spine ridges provide added stability during delicate work, while a laboratory-tested friction texture ensures a secure hold even when conditions get wet, cold, or messy. Blood, moisture, or game processing conditions won’t easily compromise grip. A finger guard adds safety, and a lanyard hole supports flexible carry options.
It comes with a burnt orange polypropylene sheath designed for ambidextrous use, offering secure retention and quick access in the field.
This is a no-nonsense hunting knife built for real work, where precision, hygiene, and reliability matter most.
