The Piratech Saga Folder brings refined engineering to the world of hard-working framelock knives. As Piratech's first elegant framelock work knife, the Saga isn't different simply for the sake of being different. Every design decision serves a purpose, creating a folder that's comfortable, capable, and built for serious everyday use.
The 3.57-inch hybrid blade is crafted from CPM-S90V steel, delivering excellent edge retention and dependable cutting performance. Its profile combines drop-point and clip-point characteristics for versatile cutting, while the hollow grind keeps the edge efficient through a wide range of everyday tasks. At 0.12 inches thick, the blade has enough substance to inspire confidence during demanding work without sacrificing cutting ability. A crowned spine provides a comfortable surface for thumb pressure, while purposeful jimping helps keep your grip controlled.
This Saga features a hand-strip satin finish with a DLC coating, giving the S90V blade a distinctive darkened appearance while adding a rugged finish suited to everyday carry. The blade is heat treated to 61±1 HRC, and each knife includes an individual hardness certificate.
The handle combines titanium with Richlite Red Stone, creating a striking contrast between rugged metal and the deep, distinctive character of the inlay. The titanium receives a 180-grit quartz black bead-blasted finish for a subdued, tactile surface. Piratech intentionally leaves the titanium handle substantial, rather than removing material simply to chase a lower weight. That added mass helps absorb vibration and gives the Saga a solid, confident feel during use.
The framelock is purpose-built for work. An exposed lockbar provides a natural grip point, while its extended length creates greater leverage for unlocking the blade while maintaining strong lockup. The deep, elongated pocket clip makes drawing and returning the knife to your pocket easy, and the rounded spine contributes to comfortable handling.
Piratech's Magsnap system keeps the exterior clean by concealing the hardware while still providing easy access for maintenance. Hardware passes through the handle from the show side and secures into the titanium lockbar side. Even the pivot follows the "Less Is More" philosophy, combining the pivot and pivot screw into one precision-engineered component using M4 threads without unnecessarily increasing handle thickness.
A curved milling line on the backspacer, produced with a 5D CNC machine, symbolizes a rope used to tie knots and pass stories from one generation to another. It's the perfect finishing touch to the Saga's philosophy: tie your own knots and create your own story.
At 8.27 inches overall and 4.37 ounces, the Saga offers a capable size and substantial feel without becoming cumbersome. With S90V steel, black-blasted titanium, and Richlite Red Stone, it's a sophisticated work knife designed to earn its place in your everyday rotation.
