As Piratech's first elegant framelock work knife, the Saga combines purposeful engineering, premium materials, and a clean design that's ready for serious everyday use.
At the heart of the Saga is a 3.57-inch hybrid blade crafted from CPM-S90V steel. Combining elements of a drop point and clip point, the versatile blade is sized for everyday cutting while remaining capable when tougher jobs come along. The 0.12-inch-thick blade uses a hollow grind for excellent cutting performance, while the crowned spine provides a comfortable surface when applying thumb pressure. With a CGC rating of 0.089, the blade is engineered to move efficiently through material. The hand-strip satin finish gives the S90V blade a clean, premium appearance, and the 61±1 HRC hardness provides the edge retention and durability expected from this high-performance steel.
The handle pairs titanium with a Richlite Red Stone inlay, creating a bold contrast between rugged metal and rich, distinctive color. The titanium receives a 180-grit quartz black bead-blasted finish that delivers a refined texture and understated appearance. Rather than hollowing out the titanium simply to chase a lower weight, Piratech retains material inside the handle to provide more mass for absorbing vibration. The result is a solid, confidence-inspiring feel in hand.
The framelock is designed with real-world use in mind. Its exposed lockbar provides a natural grip point for added control, while the long lockbar and strong tension offer increased leverage when unlocking the blade without compromising a secure lockup. A deep, elongated pocket clip makes getting the knife in and out of your pocket quick and easy, while the rounded spine and purposeful jimping help provide a comfortable, controlled grip.
Piratech also takes a minimalist approach to the Saga's hardware. The Magsnap system uses a magnetic inlay to conceal the hardware for a clean exterior while keeping it readily accessible for maintenance. The pivot and pivot screw are combined into one component, using precision M4 threads to secure into the titanium lockbar side without unnecessarily increasing the handle's thickness.
The backspacer features a curved milling line produced with a 5D CNC machine. Inspired by a rope used to tie knots and pass stories down through generations, the design represents the Saga's message: tie your own knots and create your own life story.
