SHOP CASE KNIVESThe Queen Cutlery File and Wire Series IV-4 Daddy Barlow #042271 is a traditional American-made folding knife crafted for collectors and serious users alike. Produced in the historic Queen Cutlery factory in Titusville, Pennsylvania, this knife carries on the legacy of Schatt & Morgan craftsmanship, precision, and heritage. Built as part of the File & Wire Series—a line known for premium steels and rigorous testing—the Daddy Barlow showcases a timeless design elevated with fine materials and meticulous attention to detail.
This two-blade folder features a 4.875-inch closed length and sports a classic Coke Bottle Barlow frame, which fits securely and comfortably in hand. The handle scales are made from hand-jigged Pennsylvania mountain moss bone, a rich, earthy tone that gives the knife visual depth and traditional character. A nickel-silver inlaid shield adds contrast and complements the knife’s overall vintage look. Supporting the structure are solid brass liners and pins, and the knife is finished with nickel-silver coined signature bolsters, one of which bears a branded engraving for added authenticity.
The blade configuration includes a master spear blade and a smaller clip blade, both crafted from mirror-polished ATS-34 stainless steel. Each blade is hand-swaged and includes a crescent nail mark for smooth manual opening. The “File & Wire Tested” etch on the master blade is a hallmark of Schatt & Morgan quality assurance, indicating the steel was heat-treated and tested to meet demanding standards. Both blades operate on a non-locking slipjoint mechanism, offering the traditional feel and control collectors expect from heritage American pocketknives.
This knife is a fine example of Queen Cutlery’s ability to blend durable materials with classic styling. Whether carried as a working blade or preserved in a display case, the Daddy Barlow stands as a tribute to a proud era of American knife-making. Get your Queen File & Wire Daddy Barlow at SMKW!
