The Spyderco Native Chief Blue Lightweight CPM SPY27 is a testament to the relentless pursuit of innovation and performance that defines Spyderco. Developed in close collaboration with Crucible® Industries, the blade of this knife is crafted from CPM® SPY27® stainless steel—a proprietary blend exclusive to Spyderco. This cobalt-enriched steel takes the proven chemistry of Japanese VG-10 and elevates it through Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM), a cutting-edge process that minimizes alloy segregation and produces a fine, uniform microstructure. The result is a blade that offers exceptional edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance, capable of achieving a "sticky sharp" edge that will impress even the most discerning knife enthusiasts.
The Native Chief’s 4.02" full-flat-ground blade is designed to deliver outstanding slicing performance while maintaining a robust spine for added strength. The precision grind and razor-sharp edge make it an ideal tool for everything from detailed cutting tasks to heavy-duty jobs. Spyderco’s signature round thumb hole allows for smooth, one-handed deployment, ensuring that the knife is always ready for action when you need it.
The handle of the Native Chief is crafted from cobalt-blue fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN), providing a lightweight yet incredibly durable grip. The textured surface of the FRN handle ensures a secure hold, even in challenging conditions, making the knife comfortable to use for extended periods. The blue color not only adds a unique visual appeal but also signifies the special CPM SPY27 steel within, making this knife a standout piece in any collection.
A reliable lockback mechanism secures the blade in place, offering peace of mind during use. The lockback design is known for its strength and simplicity, ensuring that the blade remains firmly locked open until you’re ready to close it. The Native Chief also features an ambidextrous pocket clip, allowing for versatile carry options that cater to both right-handed and left-handed users. Whether you prefer tip-up or tip-down carry, this knife adapts to your needs with ease. At just 3.1 ounces, it’s lightweight enough to carry comfortably all day, yet substantial enough to handle demanding tasks with confidence.
Measuring 5.08" closed and 9.05" overall, the Native Chief is a full-sized folder that balances power and precision in a sleek, ergonomic package. It’s a knife that’s built to perform, whether you’re out in the field or handling everyday tasks. Order it today from Smoky Mountain Knife Works!
