The Spyderco Pathway Lightweight Fixed Blade is built to handle demanding outdoor conditions without weighing you down. Directly inspired by the original Spyderco Waterway, the Pathway was developed around the real-world experience of Lance Clinton, a lifelong knife enthusiast and professional kayak fisherman. Its versatile design was optimized for use around water, but its rugged construction and practical cutting geometry make it equally capable on the trail, at camp, or wherever outdoor chores demand a dependable fixed blade.
The 4.43-inch PlainEdge blade is crafted from 9Cr18MoV stainless steel and features a full-flat grind for efficient, low-friction cutting performance. Its acute, utilitarian point provides the precision needed for detailed work, while the steel offers a well-rounded combination of toughness, corrosion resistance, edge retention, and ease of sharpening. For environments where minimizing reflections is important, this version features a non-reflective black oxide coating that gives the blade a subdued, mission-ready appearance.
The full tang extends through the handle and is secured between injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) scales. Finished in black and equipped with Spyderco’s signature Bi-Directional Texture pattern, the handle provides a secure grip in wet, slippery, or otherwise demanding conditions. The lightweight construction keeps the knife easy to carry without sacrificing the strength and control expected from a full-tang fixed blade. A generously sized lanyard hole is also built into the handle, allowing you to attach a lanyard or safety line for added security around water or rugged terrain.
The Pathway Lightweight comes ready for convenient carry with a snap-fit injection-molded FRN sheath. Its fully configurable G-Clip mount gives you the flexibility to position the sheath according to your preferred carry method, making it easy to keep the knife accessible whether you're working around camp, fishing from a kayak, hiking a remote trail, or tackling everyday outdoor chores.
