The Spyderco Pathway Lightweight Fixed Blade is built for outdoor use, especially when the job takes you around water, but its rugged, versatile design makes it an excellent choice for a wide range of everyday field chores. Directly inspired by the original Spyderco Waterway, the Pathway carries forward the practical “do-all” spirit developed from the experience of professional kayak fisherman and lifelong knife enthusiast Lance Clinton.
At the heart of the Pathway is a 4.43-inch PlainEdge blade crafted from 9Cr18MoV stainless steel. The full-flat grind creates a low-friction cutting geometry that moves smoothly through common materials while maintaining a strong, useful point for detailed work. 9Cr18MoV offers a well-rounded combination of toughness, corrosion resistance, edge retention, and ease of sharpening, making it particularly well suited to demanding outdoor environments. With a 0.125-inch blade thickness and 4.25-inch cutting edge, the Pathway strikes a practical balance between cutting performance and rugged durability.
The full tang is secured between black injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) scales, giving the knife a lightweight yet dependable build. Spyderco’s signature Bi-Directional Texture pattern provides a secure, controlled grip, even when conditions are wet or demanding. A generously sized lanyard hole is built into the handle for attaching a lanyard or safety line, adding an extra layer of security when working around water, boats, campsites, or other environments where dropping your knife could mean losing it.
The Pathway also comes equipped with a snap-fit injection-molded FRN sheath for safe, convenient carry. Its fully configurable G-Clip mount lets you customize the sheath position to suit your preferred carry setup, giving this fixed blade impressive versatility both on and off the trail.
Measuring 9.5 inches overall and weighing just 3.7 ounces, the Spyderco Pathway Lightweight Fixed Blade delivers substantial cutting capability without unnecessary bulk. From fishing and camping to general outdoor chores, it’s a dependable tool designed to handle the unexpected and keep you moving.
