Designed in collaboration with Mickey Yurco—retired law enforcement officer, veteran SWAT operator, lifelong martial artist, and accomplished custom knifemaker with more than four decades of experience—the Spyderco Yurco Ginunting Fixed Knife Black G-10 Handle 9Cr18MoV SS Harpoon is a modern interpretation of a traditional Filipino blade built for real-world performance. Drawing inspiration from the ginunting of the Visayan region in the southern Philippines, this design translates centuries of martial cutting heritage into a purpose-driven fixed blade engineered for control, reach, and cutting authority.

At its core is an 8.08" full-tang blade crafted from 9Cr18MoV stainless steel, a dependable alloy known for its balanced performance in toughness, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance. The flat-ground geometry delivers efficient slicing power while maintaining structural integrity across the blade’s length, ensuring consistent performance during heavy-use tasks. A harpoon-style swedge reinforces the forward portion of the blade, creating a strong yet acute tip that enhances both piercing capability and controlled cutting transitions.

The ginunting’s defining concave profile is faithfully preserved, delivering exceptional leverage and momentum through the cut. This geometry naturally concentrates force into the target, making it highly effective for dynamic motion-based cutting applications. At 13.02" overall length, the Yurco Ginunting provides extended reach and commanding presence without sacrificing modern handling control.

Built as a full-tang design, the knife ensures maximum strength from tip to butt. The handle features contoured black G-10 scales that are polished and ergonomically shaped for secure handling under demanding conditions. Eight stainless steel Torx fasteners lock the scales firmly in place, reinforcing long-term durability and structural stability. An integral lower guard helps protect the hand during forward pressure cutting, while a flared fantail butt anchors grip security during fast transitions and high-energy manipulation. A generously sized lined lanyard hole offers additional retention options for field carry or tactical use.

With a .169" blade thickness and a weight of 10.3 ounces, the Yurco Ginunting strikes a strong balance between cutting authority and manageable control. It carries a solid, confidence-inspiring feel in hand while remaining responsive during precise or aggressive cutting movements.

The knife is paired with a custom-molded Boltaron sheath featuring a secure belt mount system, ensuring reliable retention and practical carry in operational, outdoor, or training environments. The sheath adds 6.3 ounces and is designed for durability, protection, and fast access when needed.
