The Work Tuff Gear Ninjuko Gen 2 Fixed Knife is a refined modern interpretation of the classic Finnish puukko, designed by Joe Flowers and built for real-world bushcraft, utility, and everyday carry performance. First introduced in 2023, the Ninjuko platform was created to bridge traditional outdoor knife philosophy with modern materials and ergonomics, resulting in a compact, efficient tool that excels in both wilderness and daily use environments.
At its core, the Ninjuko Gen 2 retains the simplicity and control of a traditional puukko—straight-backed geometry, efficient cutting profile, and a design focused on precision and usability. However, this updated version incorporates a series of meaningful upgrades that significantly enhance durability, comfort, and performance in the field. The blade steel has been upgraded from N690 to cryogenically treated AEB-L, improving edge stability, toughness, and overall cutting consistency under demanding conditions.
The 4-inch blade features a Scandi grind with a micro convex edge, delivering excellent bite and control in woodcraft tasks such as carving, feather sticking, and food preparation. A slightly thicker blade stock reinforces structural strength without sacrificing slicing efficiency, while the addition of a sharpening choil allows for easier maintenance and improved edge precision. The satin finish gives the blade a clean, understated look while resisting glare during outdoor use.
Built on a full tang platform, the Ninjuko Gen 2 incorporates thoughtful weight-reduction machining to balance durability with carry comfort. At 8.6 inches overall, it remains compact enough for everyday carry while still offering the capability expected from a dedicated bushcraft knife. This balance makes it an ideal companion for users who need one knife that can seamlessly transition between camp chores and daily utility tasks.
The black Gator Grip handle is designed for maximum traction and control in all environments. Its aggressive texture ensures a secure hold even in wet, cold, or muddy conditions, while the ergonomic shaping and subtle integrated finger guard provide added confidence during detailed or forceful cutting tasks. The handle design prioritizes both comfort and retention, allowing extended use without fatigue.
Carried in a black carbon fiber–style Kydex taco sheath, the Ninjuko Gen 2 is secure, durable, and ready for demanding field use. The sheath system provides reliable retention and practical carry options while complementing the knife’s modern aesthetic.
Made in Taiwan by Work Tuff Gear, the Ninjuko Gen 2 reflects a careful balance of tradition and innovation—preserving the proven efficiency of the puukko while upgrading it with modern steel, materials, and design refinements built for today’s demands.
