The Work Tuff Gear Ninjuko Gen 2 Fixed Knife is a modern interpretation of the traditional Finnish puukko, designed by Joe Flowers and refined for real-world bushcraft, utility, and everyday carry performance. First introduced in 2023, the Ninjuko platform was created from extensive field experience with the goal of blending classic Scandinavian knife simplicity with modern materials, improved ergonomics, and EDC-ready practicality.
At its core, the Ninjuko Gen 2 remains true to the puukko tradition—compact, efficient, and purpose-driven. The straight-backed profile and single curved edge are optimized for controlled cutting, carving, and general outdoor utility work. However, this second-generation design introduces several important upgrades that significantly improve durability, comfort, and overall field performance.
The blade is forged from cryogenically treated AEB-L stainless steel, a major upgrade from the previous generation’s steel choice. Known for its fine grain structure, toughness, and excellent edge stability, AEB-L delivers consistent cutting performance and is easy to maintain in the field. The 4-inch blade features a Scandi grind with a micro convex edge, offering excellent bite into wood while maintaining smooth control for precision tasks. A satin finish completes the blade, providing a clean, functional aesthetic that reduces glare during outdoor use.
Built on a full tang platform, the Ninjuko Gen 2 incorporates weight-reduction machining to balance strength with comfortable carry. This ensures the knife remains durable without feeling unnecessarily heavy during extended field use or daily carry. At 8.6 inches overall, it is compact enough for EDC while still offering the capability needed for serious bushcraft tasks.
The natural canvas Micarta handle provides a warm, secure grip that excels in wet, cold, or demanding conditions. Its textured surface enhances traction without being overly aggressive, while the ergonomic shaping and subtle integrated finger guard improve control during detailed carving and more forceful cutting tasks. Over time, Micarta develops additional character, making each knife uniquely personal with use.
The included camo-pattern Kydex taco-style sheath offers secure retention, durability, and versatile carry options. Designed for field reliability, it keeps the knife protected while ensuring fast access when needed.
Made in Taiwan by Work Tuff Gear, the Ninjuko Gen 2 reflects a careful evolution of the puukko concept—preserving its traditional simplicity while enhancing it with modern steel, materials, and thoughtful engineering for today’s outdoor demands.
