The Work Tuff Gear Sea-X Fixed Blade is a formidable full-size field knife designed by Diez Knives, carrying the same rugged design DNA found in the Ape-X and Tanto-X. Built around a Viking-inspired sheepsfoot profile, the Sea-X is engineered for precise slicing, controlled push cuts, and demanding everyday utility. Its distinctive blade shape provides excellent control while minimizing the risk of accidentally piercing the material being cut, making it a practical choice for camp, trail, field work, and general-purpose use.
Measuring an impressive 19.6 inches overall, the Sea-X features a 13.5-inch blade with a 12.9-inch cutting edge. The substantial 0.26-inch blade thickness and full-tang construction give this knife the solid foundation expected from a serious hard-use fixed blade. A saber grind with a micro-convex edge provides a durable cutting geometry that balances strength and practical slicing performance.
At the heart of the Sea-X is Japanese SKS51 steel, a high-carbon alloy tool steel valued for its toughness, flexibility, and wear resistance. Originally developed for industrial cutting tools and saw blades, SKS51 is designed to withstand repeated impacts and demanding workloads. Unlike plain high-carbon SK85, SKS51 contains alloying elements such as nickel and chromium that contribute to increased toughness and shock resistance. Rated at 56-58 HRC, this steel provides a practical balance of hardness, durability, and resilience for demanding outdoor applications.
The blade features a Hand Rub APO finish that gives the steel a rugged, weathered appearance and emphasizes the Sea-X's hard-use character. Each piece is unique—no two are exactly alike—so the finish on your knife carries its own individual personality.
A burlap canvas Micarta handle complements the blade with an earthy, rugged appearance. The durable Micarta construction provides a dependable grip material suited to hard-use environments while adding distinctive visual character to this massive fixed blade. At 37 ounces, the Sea-X has the substantial weight and presence you'd expect from a knife of this size.
A handmade Kydex sheath is included and features a custom belt loop along with eight mounting slots. This versatile configuration allows for multiple mounting positions and carry setups, giving you the flexibility to adapt the sheath to your preferred arrangement. With the sheath, the total weight is 44 ounces.
The Work Tuff Gear Sea-X combines a Viking-inspired sheepsfoot profile, tough SKS51 steel, rugged Hand Rub APO finish, and burlap canvas Micarta into a distinctive modern field knife. Built for control, durability, and demanding utility, it's a serious tool for serious outdoor environments.
