Drawing inspiration from the legendary Marine Raider V44 Bowies of World War II, this imposing fixed blade carries forward the spirit of the knives associated with Lt. Colonel Carlson's 2nd Raider Battalion and their demanding service in the South Pacific. The V44X takes those iconic lines and refines them for improved ergonomics, balance, and practical performance in today's field.
Measuring 16.2 inches overall, the V-44X-III features a formidable 10-inch Bowie blade with a 9.3-inch cutting edge. Its classic clip-point profile gives it the unmistakable character of a traditional Bowie while providing a versatile platform for a variety of outdoor and field applications. The full-tang construction runs the length of the knife, providing a solid foundation for demanding use. At 0.216 inches thick, the blade has the substantial build expected from a large, heavy-duty fixed blade.
The SK85 steel blade features a saber grind with a convex edge, creating a robust cutting geometry suited to hard-use applications while maintaining effective cutting performance. Its hand-rubbed APO finish adds a rugged, weathered appearance that complements the V44X's military-inspired design. The wide fuller pays homage to the original Raider Bowie double-fuller design while reinforcing the knife's bold visual presence. The finish can vary slightly in tone, so each knife has its own distinctive appearance.
This version is fitted with a Black Gator Grip G-10 handle, giving the knife a rugged, aggressive look while providing a secure and comfortable grip. The textured surface helps maintain control during demanding work, while the ergonomic refinement of the V44X makes its considerable size more manageable in hand. At 29.5 ounces, the knife has the substantial weight and presence you'd expect from a full-size Bowie.
A black Kydex sheath is included and comes equipped for versatile carry. The system features two D-rings, two shoulder straps, a custom belt loop, and two nylon loop bands, giving you multiple options for configuring the knife to your preferred setup. With the sheath, total weight is 35.7 ounces.
