CASE KNIVES
High quality, extremely collectible handmade knives since the 1800s.
SHOP CASE KNIVESThe traditional Orchid Katana from CAS Iberia is as quick as it is exquisite, blending beauty and functionality with its relatively light 28.0” blade of hand-forged, folded K120C steel and striking fittings (koshirae). The temper line (hamon) is prominent, and the grain pattern (hada) displays distinct layers, a hallmark of masterful craftsmanship. A one-piece brass blade collar (habaki) ensures stability. The blade is finished with a medium-length tip (chu-kissaki). The blade’s thickness tapers from .24” at the guard to .17” at the tip.
High-quality ray skin (same) is used on the handle (tsuka), while the handle wrapping (tsuka-ito) and cord (sageo) are woven from premium Japanese cotton for durability and authenticity. The collar (fuchi), pommel (kashira), and end cap (kojiri) are fashioned from bronzed iron with intricate silver and gold detailing. Adorned with an intricate Orchid and Butterfly design inlaid with silver, brass, and copper, adding an exotic elegance, the guard (tsuba) is crafted from blackened iron.
The scabbard (saya) is deeply lacquered in a rich blue with a buffalo horn mouthpiece (koiguchi) and cord knob (kurikata). Each piece is uniquely handcrafted, and appearances may vary slightly. Measuring 40.5” overall and weighing 35.0oz, the katana features a curvature (sori) of .75”. Made In China using the finest materials and traditional methods.
