Zero ToleranceZero Tolerance (ZT) Knives, renowned for their high-quality craftsmanship and innovative designs, has become a leading name in the knife industry. Founded in 2006 as a division of Kai USA Ltd., ZT Knives has consistently delivered durable, reliable, and aesthetically appealing knives that cater to both professional and enthusiast markets.

The inception of ZT Knives was driven by the vision to create knives that could withstand the toughest conditions. Kai USA Ltd., the parent company, is a subsidiary of Kai Group, a Japanese company with a rich history dating back to 1908. Kai USA Ltd. is also the parent company of Kershaw, a brand well-known for its quality and innovation. Recognizing a niche in the market for high-performance knives designed for military, law enforcement, and outdoor use, Kai USA Ltd. launched the Zero Tolerance brand in 2006.

ZT Knives aimed to produce knives that met the stringent demands of professionals in various fields. The brand's slogan, "Proudly Overbuilt," reflects its commitment to manufacturing robust and reliable tools. From the outset, ZT Knives focused on using premium materials and employing advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure their products met the highest standards of quality.

The initial lineup of ZT Knives was characterized by its tactical and hard-use designs. The ZT 0100, one of the first models released, showcased the brand's dedication to durability and performance. This fixed-blade knife, designed by renowned knife maker Ken Onion, featured a full-tang construction, a black Tungsten DLC-coated blade, and a textured G-10 handle for a secure grip. The ZT 0100 set the stage for the brand's future offerings, emphasizing functionality and ruggedness.

Ken Onion's collaboration with ZT Knives proved to be instrumental in shaping the brand's design philosophy. Onion, a highly respected figure in the knife industry, brought his expertise in ergonomics and innovative mechanisms to ZT's product lineup. His designs, including the ZT 0300 series and ZT 0400 series, incorporated features like the SpeedSafe assisted opening system, which provided quick and smooth blade deployment. These early models garnered positive reviews for their solid construction and user-friendly designs.
