Great little fixed blade EDC
This is a GREAT little knife!
Eh, do not try to use the chain it comes with to hold the sheath when trying to draw the knife, will break the chain.
Comes with the knife, a decent sheath with an adequate metal belt clip, a black colored ball chain for carry as a neck knife and an Allen wrench type tool that fits the screws.
The knife looks great, much like a baby Benchmade Nimravis. Fit and finish - no complaints at all. Ergonomics are outstanding! The steel used is really tough. Edge retention, haven’t had it long enough to say but so far not bad.
I’ve got three other fixed blades this size (Bradford Necker, Kizer Smalt and a Jantz pattern 42 in D2 that has been an EDC of mine for many years) and the ergonomics on this one beat all of ‘em by a country mile (but personal reference, the exceptionally svelte Pattern 42 wins out).
The Rough Rider has a bit of heft to it, good balance, so it even throws well (knife abuse you say? If it can’t stand up to what your average 14-year-old might subject it to, I don’t hang it. )
As others have mentioned, when you first get it, the sheath is VERY tight. Once you have it out of the sheath, if you return it to the sheath only part way, the sheath will in a few days stretch out to a more reasonable fit.
Using the spring clip on the sheath, it rides high on the waist. Works well with something like sweat pants but some might think it not secure enough for belt carry (well, make a couple of paracord loops…). Can be switched around for IWB or boot carry.
In short, great knife, great value, likely the best deal going in this size knife. 5 stars all day.
